The Indirect Drum Drying system of Vandenbroek International can be utilized to dry various types of products.

CHP Applications

The indirect type of heat transfer makes the IDD dryer ideal for Combined Heat and Power (CHP) applications where waste heat is available.

Vadeb Indirect Drum Drying System

The Vadeb® Indirect Drum Drying system (IDD system) has the same drying principles as the direct drying system. With the IDD system, the heat exchange takes place indirectly. Up to 95% of the gas-flow is recycled to a two-step heat exchanger.

The thermal energy supply for the heat exchanger can be any fuel type:

  • Hot gas from heaters;
  • Exhaust gas from gas-engines or turbines;
  • Or other heat sources with a temperature range of 350-650º Celsius.

Depending on heat-exchanger performances, the drum inlet temperature has a maximum of 450º Celsius.

Stable Performance

The Indirect Drum Drying system is designed for a more stable performance at lower dry inlet temperature. Non-condensables and surplus air can be treated with after-burning conditions in the furnace.

  • Thermal energy consumption: 3.8 MJoules/kg H2O
  • Temperature drum inlet range: 200-450º Celsius
