Vadeb Combined Drum Drying System

Combined Drum Drying for sludge
Combined Drum Drying for sludge

The Vadeb® Combined Drum Drying system (CDD system) of Vandenbroek International combines the performance of indirect and direct drying.

Thanks to the secondary heater,

  • the drum inlet temperature can be maximized and
  • the oxygen content in the dryer gas loop will be minimized.

Because of the specially developed Fully Integrated Self-Supported Inertisation System (FISSIS) the combined process is capable to match with all ATEX Safety Standards.

Meets all requirements for thermal drying plants

The Combined Drum Drying system is designed to combine the energy efficiency of the Direct Drying with the more stable operation performance of the Indirect Drying. When provided with the FISSIS control system, the Combined Drum Drying System meets all updated ATEX and CE safety requirements for thermal drying plants.

Schematic Combined Drum drying for sludge

The primary heater is operated under “after burning” conditions, while the secondary heater controls the drying process and reduces the oxygen content in the dryer gas loop. As a consequence, the recycling loop of drying gas is characterised by:

  • low temperature (40-50 º Celsius)
  • low vapour content
  • low dust content
  • low  oxygen content (4-8 vol% O2)

Other specifications:

  • Thermal energy consumption: 3.3 MJoules/kg H2O
  • Temperature primary heater: 850º Celsius
  • Temperature drum inlet range: 350-650º Celsius
