Each drum drying solution consists of several machines and types of equipment. The exact combination and composition of each process and design depend on the type of products (to dry) and specific requirements. The applied equipment can be e.g. the drying drum itself, dust separators, condensors, bagging systems, etc.
Example (Sludge) Drum Drying Principles
As mentioned above, each solution consists of different types of equipment. A drying system of Vandenbroek International consists of the following design principles (for major types of equipment) - taking sludge drying as an example:

- Rotating drum, heart of the drying system;
- Furnace, the heater;
- Backmixing, to overcome the sticky phase inside the drum;
- Separation of the granules, dust and gas purification;
- Conveyors and hoppers, to convey the wet cake and dry product;
- Odour abatement, reduce odour emission;
- Granule sizing, sizing the granules to any desired dimension;
- Final product, to meet the standards.
